As reported in the January 14 copy of The Journal, the multinational giant Amazon is setting up shop in nearby Coteau-du-Lac. Though town representatives refused comment at the time, the official announcement was made this week and with its five installations in the province – including Longueuil and Laval – it’s expected to add 1000 jobs, 500 in Coteau-du-Lac alone.

“The time has come to confirm Amazon's presence in the Coteau-du-Lac territory,” wrote the town’s Communications Director Marie-Claude Côté of the depot/distribution centre.

"Amazon is proud to continue its investment in Quebec and provide our employees with great, safe jobs and better futures," said Jean-Francois Héroux, site leader, Amazon Canada in a press release.

The 520,000 square-foot facility in the Alta Industrial Park area is expected to open later this year.
