Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges, is pleased to announce $71,295 in funding for the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges through the COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations.

Earlier this summer, the federal government announced this new fund to help Canada's cultural organizations plan for the future in these uncertain times, but it also serves to maintain jobs in this sector and support the continuity of their activities. Thanks to this initiative, thousands of cultural organizations across Canada will be able to maintain their operations and keep their employees.

The Fund will be administered by Canadian Heritage and divided among select departmental programs and Portfolio agencies as well as key delivery organizations,

The Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations is designed to complement other Government of Canada measures to help Canadian workers and employers impacted by COVID-19, including the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), the Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP), and the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for Small Businesses.

"Since the beginning of this crisis, our government has put in place unprecedented measures to support Canadian families, small businesses and organizations through this very challenging time,” said Schiefke. “The funding for the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is a great example of that support and will help the organization to continue doing their important work of protecting and sharing our community's rich history.”

The museum is located at 431 Saint-Charles Avenue, Vaudreuil-Dorion.
