The world has changed a lot in the 23 years that I’ve run my business in Hudson. But never more than it has in the last six months.
Like small businesses everywhere, I’m evolving and adapting. The families that make up our Hudson Dance Center community are more than students – they are family to me. It’s been a privilege to help so many kids – and adults! – fall in love with dance. We all need a place to feel like we’re a part of something, where we can be ourselves, where we can build friendships. I’ve been honoured to play a part in offering local dancers that opportunity.
Revamping our studio this summer to safely welcome a new season of dancers into our space has given me a lot of time to reflect. From marking the floor to ensure distancing, to building a formal protocol for hand-washing stations and drop-offs: this sometimes feels surreal.
As I worked my way through the summer like so many of my fellow merchants and business owners across the village core, the words that kept coming to mind were ‘thank you.’
For everyone working to support local, shop local, and think local over the last few months. For every family set to safely hit the dance floor at our studio this fall. For everyone who’s putting local first at a time when it matters most – thank you.
I know I speak for my amazing fellow local business owners when I tell you – your patronage now means so very much. And we appreciate it.
With thanks and hope,
Hudson Dance Center
