This past Saturday, February 22, seven athletes from Saint-Lazare Taekwondo attended the 18th edition of the Raymond Mourad Championship in Montreal. This tournament gathered fighters of all belt colours and ages. The competition was hosted at the Centre Claude-Robillard and all athletes were coached under the excellent supervision of Great Grand Master Sami Mazraani and Matthew Elliott.

The day started early with our 6-and-under category. This was a good opportunity for the younger athletes to gain experience from watching the older black-belt fights. The excitement before a fight was felt by all the athletes but overall everyone had had a good time. The participants cheered and encouraged their friends while they fought. The tournament was, however, longer than expected and made for long days for athletes and parents alike.

The athletes who took part were Tristan Lukacs (Gold), Nathan Lukacs (Gold), Emeric Lecompte (Gold), Kaitlyn Ip (Silver), Collin Oswald (Silver), Nathan Ip (Bronze), and Elinda (Bronze).
