Paying it forward from ‘The Bunker’

Every Christmas Hudson’s War Memorial Library gives out donations to various community non-profit organizations. In the photo above are some of the recipients and the volunteers of the War Memorial Library.

Every year, the library donates a percentage of their profits from sales at ‘The Bunker’ thrift shop to local charities and representatives from each organization were invited to attend the meeting to accept their cheques. The recipients include NOVA Hudson Day Centre, LePont/Bridging food bank, Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Foundation, La Passerelle Women’s Shelter, Hudson Fireman’s Baskets, Hudson Historical Society, CFAD (Hudson Angels), Alzheimer Society Suroît, Greenwood Centre for Living History, Quebec Veterans Foundation (Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Hospital Fund), Valleyfield Hospital Foundation, Hawkesbury Hospital Foundation, Literacy Unlimited, Royal Canadian Legion #115 – Cenotaph, Centre d’Action Bénévole Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and First Nations Child and Family Services.

The library has been operational since 1949 celebrated its 70th anniversary this year. ‘The Bunker’ has been giving to the various area charities for the past 16 years by donating 40 per cent of the sales with the remaining income dedicated to maintenance and the purchase of books for the library.
