The power of the choir

Dear Editor,

At a time when we seem so riven we might need a 30-metre buffer from each other, here is another view of Hudson. It better represents why we chose to live here, and why we choose to stay. Monica Günter had a notion to start a choir. When she put out feelers, the response was extensive and enthusiastic. So, with Tim Walsh, Christine Cousineau and Donna Stewart, Monica launched the Hudson Community Choir in September. Some of us are amateurs, almost in tune; some are highly experienced and talented. I don't know the political, religious or professional background of the other choristers; I barely know their names. And yet, when we join voices, the sense of solidarity is palpable. And it is something else: pure fun. Patricia Crowe
