Collateral damage

Dear Editor,

I would like to add to Benjamin Poirier’s excellent open letter (The Journal, September 19) to Hudson Mayor Jamie Nicholls by bringing to the mayor’s attention that the potential for litigation is not restricted to new homeowners building in the bog but also existing homeowners in the area.

By building in the bog the new structures will be squeezing water out – it is like a sponge and water flows downhill. There will be collateral damage. The epicentre is the bog but the culvert that runs under the train tracks close to Aspen Lane down to the river is where major water damage will be radiating from.

I agree with Mr. Poirier that the mayor should stop and think this one out.
