Letter to the editor 2, Sept. 19, 2019

Climate change emergency

Dear Editor,

Climate change is an emergency. The climate in Canada is warming twice as fast as in the rest of the world. We need to keep global temperature rise to 1.5° Celsius to avoid climate catastrophe. Climate change impacts me and my community. This past spring, flooding in the Montérégie region has been unprecedented. Climate change, loss of biodiversity, food scarcity and pollution (air and water quality) are all interconnected and left unchecked, as they are now, we are headed for a global ecological collapse. That is not the future I want for my children. I challenge my local candidates to treat climate change like the emergency it is. I’m calling for candidates to be transparent, accountable, and put forward a bold plan to help Canada combat the climate crisis. I’m committed to backing this letter by casting my ballot for a safe climate future. And I invite my friends and neighbours to do the same. Sincerely,

David Hill Saint-Lazare
