Hudson & Region Studio Tour all set for last two weekends in September

Public invited into artists' studios to discover their creations

Traditionally, the only way that one once met or discovered a living artist was through attending an opening vernissage, at a gallery showcasing his or her latest creations, through family connections, or by special invitation.

Well for the 16th consecutive year, on the two last weekends in September and organized and hosted on a totally volunteer basis, The Hudson & Region Studio Tour has being doing things somewhat differently.

Once again and following a stringent selection process, some 20 fine arts and craft artists from throughout Hudson, Rigaud, Saint-Lazare, and Vaudreuil-Dorion, will be inviting the public to visit their in-home studios to learn more about what inspires them, what tools are required, what techniques are used, and admire the creative results. Whether in wood, clay, metals, oils, acrylics, pen and ink, or a combination of all and then some surprises.

Explains Tour President Jen Baumeister, “This region is so rich in artistic creativity and our tour enables them to welcome the public on a one-on-one basis into their own homes and studios to learn more about their art and what inspires them year-round.”

Adds Baumeister, who herself is an acclaimed ceramist-potter, “Our mission is to provide visitors an opportunity to meet advanced local artists in their creative environments and share their passion for their creative process and, last year, we had visitors from 70 towns and communities throughout Quebec, Canada, and even the United States, checking out their studios and chatting with our featured artists.

The tour, being held on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on September 21-22 and 28-29, is open to all and free of charge.

For more information and a full description of all participating artists together with examples of their creations, check out hudsonstudiotour.com or call Jen Baumeister at (450) 458-4849 or (514) 294-1592.
