Passing around the hat for a good cause
Recently close to 50 former students gathered in Hudson to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation back in 1969 from Hudson High School. Many had begun their education in 1957 at a local kindergarten class. Others came and went but we all had a link to 1969 which was, or would have been, our mutual graduation year.
They came from England, New York, Nigeria, Switzerland, Michigan, Alberta, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Ontario and of course Quebec and Hudson. Some had never left! Special thanks to the venues that hosted our event; The Château du Lac, Hudson Yacht Club, Hudson Legion Branch #115, Beth & Larry Gray and Bill & Cathy Bredt.
One special event occurred while we were gathered at the Hudson Legion for the reunion dinner and memorial. A hat was passed around and $1340 was raised for Le Pont/Bridging. This was a last minute idea and it was very well received.
Le Pont/Bridging is our local food bank and one of our main local charities. Thank you to all those who attended and many plan to return in October for the 100th Anniversary of Hudson High/Westwood Senior School. Maybe a hat could be passed around then as well for a local charity.
Just a thought.
