At approximately 5:45 p.m. on June 12, investigators from the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges East SQ detachment, assisted by various units of the Sûreté du Québec including the Forensic Identification Unit, the Canine Handler and the Intervention Tactical Group carried out a raid in a residence on the rue des Méandres in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

SQ spokesperson Sgt. Ingrid Asselin reports that at the scene, they seized a firearm and ammunition, knives, about 1200 grams of marijuana, about 70 vials of THC, about 80 grams of cannabis resin, more than 650 LSD blotters, 50 tablets of morphine-like and biphentin-like tablets, nearly 20 grams of methamphetamine, drug-trafficking equipment including cell phones and computer equipment, and just over $1800. Two vehicles were searched and in one of them, more than 700 grams of cannabis were seized. The vehicle was also seized as an offense property.

During the operation, before carrying out the search, the police intercepted two vehicles and arrested the five occupants following the presence of the latter at the residence in question. During the search, two other people were arrested inside the residence.

A total of seven suspects were arrested, including six men between the ages of 17 and 20 and a 22-year-old woman. One of them, aged 20, appeared June 13 at the Valleyfield Courthouse and could face charges of drug trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, receiving and possession of a weapon. The others were released through a promise to appear in court at a later date. The others could face charges of possession of narcotics.

The investigation was initiated in December, 2018 as a result of information provided to police officers that youths were using substances, including Xanax-like tablets, and that some of them had been heavily incapacitated by this consumption.

Sgt. Asselin added the use of various investigative techniques and information obtained from the public allowed the arrest of these people.
