The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion released a communiqué June 10 to announce that the Supreme Court of Canada, in a judgment rendered on May 2, 2019, denied the request for leave of appeal from the owner of the former service station located at 2146 boul. de la Cité-des-Jeunes against a judgment of the Quebec Court of Appeal. This judgement concluded that the building had lost its acquired rights of use because of the loss of more than 50 per cent of its value. The building was heavily damaged following a fire that occurred in 2010.

This judgment has the effect of ordering the owner to demolish and remove the remains of the building.

This building is now the subject of a notice of expropriation of the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie-Ouest (CISSSMO) for the construction of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital Center. Since the CISSSMO should become the owner shortly after the construction, it will be up to the organization to undertake the demolition procedures in the event of the owner's failure to comply with the judgment.
