At approximately 9:15 p.m. on June 3, Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers from the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges East were called after shots were fired, possibly from a BB-type weapon, at vehicles that were either parked or stopped on Pothier Street in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot.
SQ spokesperson Sgt. Ingrid Asselin reports that as a result of information obtained on the suspicious vehicle's movements from the public, the police located it and it was intercepted. In the vehicle, there were seven occupants, five minors, all aged 16 or 17, and two adults, aged 18 and 23. They were all arrested, taken to the police station for questioning and then released with a promise to appear in court at a later date. They could face charges of mischief and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The suspect vehicle was searched for evidence and a dog handler from the canine unit came to the area to conduct a search which resulted in locating the weapon.
Sgt. Asselin said these arrests could resolve at least two other similar events that have occurred in recent days in this sector.
The investigation is continuing.
