Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Ingrid Asselin reports that while officers were patrolling in Les Cèdres the evening of Thursday, May 16,they noticed four people acting suspiciously near a parked vehicle.
By questioning them and performing checks on the vehicle, the officers discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. They arrested two women aged 18 and 20 and two men aged 18 and 19.
The four were all taken to the police station for interrogation by the investigators and subsequently released on a promise to appear in court at a later date and with conditions with which to comply. They could face charges of theft.
On Friday, May 17 at roughly 3:30 a.m., a citizen reported a robbery in progress at a shed on the grounds of a residence on Sylvio-Mantha Street in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The police arrived at the scene, including two police officers who were strategically placed at blocking points. The two male suspects fled on foot. A foot-pursuit by police ensued. The canine-unit was asked for assistance and when the officer arrived he saw one of the suspects. Following a chase, the suspect was arrested. He was taken to the police station for interrogation. He was later released on a promise to appear in court. This is a 22-year-old man from Beauharnois. The second suspect was not located. The vehicle used by the suspects has been seized and will be searched (the type of stolen property remains to be determined). The investigation is continuing to identify the second suspect who has not been located.
