By-election questions

Dear Editor,

In reference to the current Saint-Lazare by-election in District 2, one of the candidates has been making public claims that, “we are having a by-election because of the resignation of council members as a result of tactics of bullying and intimidation.” I’m wondering where she gets her facts.

The only people who ever made ‘allegations’ of bullying were the mayor and former councillor Pamela Tremblay.

Has this candidate talked to Martin Couture? As far as I know, he never publicly discussed his reasons for leaving council and never mentioned bullying as a cause.

It is also important to point out that in a letter to The Journal by Anna Maria Conte published on October 6, 2017 titled ‘Disinformation Continues,’ the author is describing people spreading falsehoods during the municipal elections of 2017 where she defends the past spending of the previous council on Town Hall, Au Galop and the DG salary changes which were put in place right before the 2017 elections. Isn’t she currently spreading falsehoods? How is she going to work effectively with this current council after trying to tarnish their names on a public forum like she has?

On a different note, the candidate also claims she has attended council meetings on a regular basis and has been working tirelessly to make Saint-Lazare a better place. I would be very interested in learning more about her knowledge on current town issues and get more details on what she has done in the past to make Saint-Lazare better because I've never seen her involved in any town matters or at council meetings until now.
