Enough plastic
Dear Editor,
With all we know about the effects of plastic and Styrofoam on the environment I would like to challenge Hudson’s commercial establishments to stop using bags – plastic or paper – for items purchased.
Put a big sign outside of the store as a reminder that disposable bags are no longer offered. We will soon remember to bring along our reusable bags or purchase those on offer by the store.
For fresh produce, a compostable paper bag is a better option than plastic. Needless to say, Styrofoam containers also need to be replaced by environmentally friendly containers.
Hudson was a national leader in banning pesticide use.
Although many places in Canada are ahead of us in eliminating plastic for items purchased, let’s once again be a leader in this region!
