Park safety

Dear Editor,

My dog and I love to go to Jack Layton Park a few mornings a week. He is very sociable and well-behaved but I always have him on a retractable leash.

One morning last week, we came across a loose dog with his owners, who ran up to my dog and attacked him. It was nothing serious but it shook us both and put a damper on the rest of our walk. The owners said nothing and did not immediately put their dog on a leash which was the very least I expected them to do.

When anyone goes to the park, whether they have a dog or not, they should feel safe. The park is there for all of us to enjoy. So please keep your dogs on leashes, especially when you know they can be aggressive.

This is just common sense and being considerate - and the law.
