Scouting around

From February 17 to 23, Scout-Guide week celebrated Scouting's founder, Lord Baden-Powell, who was born February 22. It was also the birthday of his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell, who was a leading figure in the Guiding movement. In their honour, the Cavagnal (Hudson) Scouting group held a celebration February 20 which included songs, a video message from our MP Peter Schiefke, and of course, cake. This year the theme was ‘Community’ and each section did themselves proud by listing their community activities, which included helping the Wyman United Church book sale, making sit-upons for the homeless, going downtown to feed the homeless, selling poppies for Remembrance Day, food donations for Le Pont/Bridging Food Bank, writing cards for veterans, the Sandy Beach cleanup, and so on.
