Bring the history back home to Hudson
Dear Editor,
I was shocked and disappointed to read in the last issue of The Journal that ‘Old Joe,’ Hudson's iconic bull, had once again been removed from his pedestal on Mount Victoria and this time it seems for good. I frequently walked up there with my dogs and always stopped to pat him on the nose. This statue is a magnificent work and it was lovely to see a bit of the history of Hudson and the famous Holstein Sire displayed there near the site of the old Macaulay farm.
A few years when taking my walk he was not on his pedestal and I wondered if he had been stolen but later found that he had been sent out of town for a new coat of paint and happily, eventually returned to his place of honour.
I haven't walked up there for a while and am really shocked that he has gone again and this time was sold. I feel strongly that the Town of Hudson should protect its history and make efforts to have him returned to his place of honour.
