Victorious season for Les Voltigeurs Football

The Collège Bourget Voltigeurs gather victorious after their 35-9 final in Rigaud against Collège Notre-Dame.

The Collège Bourget Voltigeurs can rightly be proud of their performance on the gridiron this past weekend after a 35-9 championship victory against Collège Notre-Dame out of Montreal. The boys of the cadet 2B division won the Lac St. Louis regional final on their home field in Rigaud, capping an absolutely dominant season of 9 wins and 0 losses.

Team spirit was showing in abundance even before the game, as a group of dedicated parents and coaches hit the field behind the 168-year-old institution, shovels in hand, to get a jump on the plowing equipment and help clear a little end of season snowfall.

Snow cleared and crowds ready, the teams hit the field to a fanfare of cheers and fireworks that were not misplaced. The offence performed at their peak to rack up the points, including an impressive touchdown that came following a short pass and a dramatic run from just a few yards away from their own endzone.

As for the defence, they kept the crowd on edge showing a level of nerve worthy of the team name by holding their opponents not once but twice in first and goal situations, both times weathering four downs to protect their endzone and maintain the team’s lead.

“Congratulations Les Voltigeurs for winning finals today against Notre Dame. You are true champions!” beamed one proud parent after the game, “Great team, great coaches, great manager and great friends! What a fantastic season!”
