Increased police presence for the second long weekend
Police officers of the Sûreté du Québec will intensify their operations on the road network during the upcoming long weekend until July 2.
Police will be focusing on motorists’ ability to drive impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. Speed, seat belt use, and cell phone use while driving will also be targeted by the officers. These are the four leading causes of fatal collisions in Quebec.
Also, for their own safety, motorcyclists must exercise caution, including anticipating risk, adopting predictable driving behavior, and adhering to prescribed speed limits and their own limitations. For safe road sharing, motorists should be vigilant, consider the presence of motorcyclists and pay more attention to their presence on the road networks.
