A radiant sun shone on tremendous generosity: $147,906 raised for the VSPCRF
Mother Nature invited generosity to Hudson’s Whitlock Golf Club Monday, June 11, to the delight of the 182 players who participated in the 14th Annual Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Foundation (VSPCRF) Golf Tournament. If success jumped on the greens for some players, donations jumped as well: A total of $147,906 was collected, a sum never before reached since the first tournament.
Under the honorary presidency of Franco Donato – who received a standing ovation when the VSPCRF General Manager Jean-François Thibert paid tribute to him - 225 people enjoyed the dinner menu prepared by Mr. Donato.
The called auction allowed the VSPCRF to collect $12,400. The four winning bettors received one of four prizes – a dinner worth $ 1000 at the restaurant Au pied de Cochon, 25 passes for Whitlock Golf Club, two 6-course dinners prepared by Franco Donato and a Caribbean cruise offered in collaboration with Voyages Gendron.
Throughout the meal, the guests went in large numbers to the room to view the many items offered as part of the silent auction, which generated a total amount of $12,095.
Major Donation and New Ambassadors
The VSPCRF also received a $30,000 donation from Sobeys through Normand Bruneau, President of Groupe Techno Ref4. This was Mr. Bruneau’s third participation at the Golf Tournament in which the entrepreneurs who play are offered the opportunity to choose a charitable organization to whom they wish to donate $30,000. Mr. Bruneau chose the VSPCR because one of his relatives has stayed there and he offered a touching testimony on this subject. The VSPCRF gratefully acknowledges Sobeys and Mr. Bruneau.
The outpouring of generosity was multiplied by an unequaled number – 29 – generous donors who became VSPCRF Ambassadors by giving a total of $33,000.
The President of the Tournament, Jean St-Pierre, emphasized the fact that the mission of the Foundation is very dear to his heart. “I have known four people who stayed here, including relatives and business contacts. Their families all told me – and this without exception – that they had received exceptional care. So, thanks to all the staff of the Foundation,” he added.
The three winning foursomes of the Tournament won 18 bottles of wine and three bottles of champagne, graciously offered by Pro-force Transportation & Logistics Services.
Director of Financing and Communications Jocelyne Vautour, and General Manager of VSPCRF Jean-François Thibert, thank – on behalf of the Board of Directors, employees and volunteers – all the donors, sponsors and partners, as well as the tournament presenter, National Bank and our host, the Whitlock Golf Club, who generously contributed to the success of the event. And incidentally, which allow the Residence to continue to offer quality end-of-life care, in serenity and dignity.
