From early struggles to becoming finalists, the Drakkar Peewee AAs showed that perseverance and teamwork pays off.
The year began with 16 boys coming together to form a new hockey team for the upcoming season. Along with their four coaches the journey began with many obstacles, but they made a plan and the season would be a ride they would not soon forget.
The amazing Head Coach Mark Bartlett had many plans set up for this magical season which began with a trip to Buffalo, New York to play an exhibition game at the Keybank Centre Arena, the home of the Buffalo Sabres. The trip included dressing in the same dressing rooms as the Sabres and playing on the same ice surface as some of their idols. We stayed at the same hotel in town as the visiting Edmonton Oilers and were lucky enough to meet and take pictures with some of them. Then we finished the night off attending the game. The boys had a trip of a lifetime.
The team went on to become finalists in two tournaments out of the three they were enrolled in which was a huge accomplishment for a team that seemed to struggle early on. However with Mark Bartlett, Simon Prieur, Daniel Champagne and Serge Thibodeau as their incredible coaches, the boys seemed to be the most improved team in our league and division. We could not be more proud! Congratulations boys and thank you for making this a season we will not forget.
Thank you to all dedicated coaches who helped create an amazing year for all of our children. With volunteers like them our children will learn to grow and become incredible young people we can all be proud of. Thank you for going above and beyond!
