Bureau du rétablissement – Inondations (BRI) inspectors will conduct a field operation to meet Rigaud citizens affected by the spring floods in 2017 who have not yet opened a file at the City of Rigaud or with the Ministry of Public Security.

Over the next two weeks, the City of Rigaud's inspectors will travel across the territory to meet with owners in the high-current area (0-20 years) and who have not yet opened a case at the BRI or the ministère de la Sécurité publique division du rétablissement (DRÉ). They will have until April 30, 2018 to contact the BRI staff to proceed with the opening of a file and initiate the necessary steps.

Once this date has passed, letters of formal notice will be served to the owners of the residences concerned. The Quebec government's decree requires them to submit to a damage assessment procedure that the 2017 spring flood could have caused to their property, whether or not they benefit from the financial assistance program from the Ministry of Public Security. The City of Rigaud must therefore ensure that this decree is respected.

For more information or to make an appointment with a BRI inspector, citizens are invited to call (450) 451-0869, extension 201.
