Keep your receipts

Dear Editor,

Yes, always keep the sales receipt with your owner's manual (The Soapbox, The Journal, February 22, page 6). My six-year-old GPS was cheerfully replaced with the newest model after the old unit froze up during the updating process.

Trying to get it unfrozen, the agent at Garmin said that she was having a hard time so would send me a new unit upon receipt of the old unit with proof of purchase. And she did replace it.

So, I agree, it is always good to contact the maker to make inquiries. They do want to keep loyal customers and enjoy a good reputation, so they will go to extremes to assist with problems.
