Daniel Lauzon receives the Tribute to Civism Awards

The Government Of Quebec Celebrates his Act of Bravery from March 17, 2015 The Town of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot is pleased to report that Mr. Daniel Lauzon, District 3 Councillor, was honored with the Honoring Public Service Award. At the 31st ceremony Tribute to Good Citizenship, held on November 7 in Parliament, the Minister of Justice, Attorney General of Quebec and Minister responsible for the Act to Promote Good Citizenship, Ms. Stéphanie Vallée, presented the Medal of Citizenship to M Daniel Lauzon in recognition of his courageous act. "I am very happy that Daniel's courage is recognized," says Danie Deschênes, Mayor of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot. This well-deserved distinction is proof of the importance he attaches to the well-being of his fellow citizens. We are very proud of him." The act of bravery of Mr. Lauzon, recognized by the Government of Quebec, dates back to the afternoon of March 17, 2015. Daniel Lauzon is on his way with his wife to their home in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île -Perrot. They see a house on fire; Mr. Lauzon stops his vehicle and runs to the residence. On three occasions, Mr. Lauzon enters the house in flames to save an elderly lady refusing to go out and trying to recover valuables. The last time, the roof collapses and the flames descend on them. Mr. Lauzon firmly grasped the victim and hurriedly fired him. He takes her to the neighbor's house, where he recommends to watch over her. In total, 23 people from different regions of Quebec were awarded 11 medals and 12 honorable mentions to recognize the heroism and courage shown by 23 people. The acts of good citizenship in question were carried out during 2015 in different circumstances, such as a road accident, a fire, a situation at risk of drowning, among other dangerous situations.
