Time for a change
Dear Editor,
At the last St. Lazare council meeting, the elected officials decided to give the Director General a salary increase of $12,000 which took no more than five minutes, yet refused to reimburse a local couple $2,000 to shut off a water pipe because they did not submit their request within 15 days. Now we know where priorities stand. Executives first, residents last. Time for change, come elections. We need new blood that will protect our interest first. We cannot afford an increase in taxes due to spending such as have been done on a new town and fire hall plus the Au Galop festival which cost us over a million in three years without bringing in revenue to the town.
We need to cut down on costs. I, for one, cannot afford to pay more in taxes. Everything is going up except our pension money.
So people, let's get out there and vote and attend monthly meetings thereafter to see what will transpire for the upcoming year.
