Over 340 homes have been ordered evacuated in the City of Rigaud following heavy rainfall that has seen the Ottawa River breach its banks.
Residents in the flooded areas are obliged to leave, according to the town’s website. Areas affected include Baie de Rigaud, Pointe-Séguin, Rigaud sur le lac, and Pointe à la raquette. The town has opened a makeshift shelter in the municipal library located at 102 rue St. Pierre. Residents with pets are told to bring them along. Though they're not permitted in the library, area kennels are offering discounts to house the animals. For more information, citizens can contact City Hall at (450) 451-0869 ext. 235.
