Double murder court date remanded to July 19

Each facing double murder charges, a pale and fatigued-looking Mélanie Binette and Richard Hunt appeared separately before Judge Bernard St. Arnaud at the Valleyfield Courthouse the morning of Thursday, March 30.
Coteau-du-lac resident Binette and Hunt of Les Cèdres stand accused in the December 1, 2016 fatal shootings of 45-year-old Joseph Fluet and 38-year-old Steven Lamarsh, both with reported ties to criminal biker gangs. The suspects were arrested by the Sûreté du Québec two days later and are facing charges for which the maximum sentence for which is life in prison.
Wearing leg shackles and handcuffs, the brief court appearance was only to declare a change in legal representation. The next court appearance is scheduled for July 19, 2017.
Both suspects remain in custody.
