Cultural integration in Quebec
Dear Editor,
Kim Vale may be right about the old concept of "English superiority" in attitude in the old Quebec (Letters, Your Local Journal, February 2). However, the two solitudes concept still being supported officially and culturally is not helping much.
The years of learning French in Protestant schools did not produce any real bilingual results. English students learned grammar but gained no speaking skills.
There was little mingling of the two groups socially. The same systems are producing the same feeling of separateness and isolation.
