The weekend of November 12 - 13 featured the Montreal Regional Football League (MRFL) championship finals between the St. Lazare Stallions and the St. Hubert Rebelles. This epic battle ended with a 40-38 victory by the Stallions advancing for the first time to the Ballon D’Argent finals where they will face the Richelieu Pirates. The game featured a great comeback from the Stallions who showed a ‘never quit’ team mentality right to the last quarter. Head Coach Frantz Jacob taught his players that if everyone sticks together we shall overcome all obstacles in our path.
This ‘one team’ bond repeated at every practice proved fruitful against the Rebelles. The Stallions coaching staff are very proud of their players and no matter what happens next Saturday, they will remain champions in their coaches’ eyes.During the regular season, the Stallions defence allowed only 52 pts in all 10 games resulting in their 9-1 record. Defensive Coordinator Geoff Fage proved that hard-nose football would prove to be effective.
Every player had a contribution towards the success of the team. Many players had never played this sport and evolved into football players as they learned the meaning of the word team, which was emphasized throughout the season. All coaches are proud of their veteran players Malakai Jacob, Connor O’Connell, Justin Royer, Max Latendresse, Justin Dolbec, Sebastiano Magnan and Jake Fage who showed great leadership towards the 1st year players during practices as well as in games.
As our football season winds down, some players will move on to Mosquito and the others will be the new leaders of next year. Best of luck to everyone and we’ll see you on the field. We would like to take the time to thank all the parents who drove their kids to games and practices.
Thank you for all the encouragement and support you have provided throughout the season…we couldn’t have done it without you! Also would like to thank the coaching staff for all their time and commitment they gave to the team this year. We wouldn’t be where we are today without each of you.Come and support our Atom Stallions team at the Percival-Molson Stadium Saturday November 19, kick off is at 10:30 a.m.
