Last weekend was the 1st round of amateur football playoffs for most of the teams in the province. Here's how our local amateur teams did:
St. Lazare Stallions Midget team was on the road in St. Laurent facing the Spartans for the semi-final match of the Quebec Midget Football League. The Spartans had already beaten the Stallions twice in regular season play, so the Stallions knew they were in for a tough game. The Stallions drew first blood with a 16-yard field-goal by #88 Troy Lendvay, but the Spartans answered back with a major making the score 6-3 as they missed the convert. The score stayed 6-3 until the 4th quarter with big defensive plays on both sides of the ball.
The Spartans then intercepted a pass from the Stallions and ran it back 30 yards for a touchdown. They were successful on a 2-point convert making the score 14-3 It wasn't looking good for the Stallions, but with only two minutes left in the game Quarterback Jarred Gallant hooked up with #88 Troy lendvay for a 15-yard touchdown. With 1:40 seconds left in the game, the Stallions went for an onside kick and #1 Matthew Campbell recovered the short kick for the Stallions.
QB Gallant went back to work with only about a minute remaining and on a 4th down with five yards to go, he hooked up with #13 André Abbey, who made an exceptional catch and run for 56 yards and a game winning touchdown. The Stallions won by a score of 15-14 and will now play in the Provincial Finals this Saturday, November 12, 5 p.m. at Stade Hebert in St. Leonard against the Châteauguay Raiders.
The Pee wee Stallions were hosting the Sun Youth Hornets yesterday at Westwood field in Hudson. The Stallions won the game 24-12, with outstanding plays by Quinton Nadeau with several QB sacks and returning from an injury, defensive lineman Hayden Gergely was a force to be reckoned with. Dillion Briggs and Elijah Sleep both had very strong games on offense. This win for the Peewee Stallions gave them the Montreal Regional Football League Cup.
-Stallions Mosquito team had a rough day against Sunnybrooke being defeated by a score of 24-0. Head Coach Anson Williams and all his staff are very proud of their team as they finished the season strong and really gelled together. A special thank you goes out to team manager Marie-France Léger from all the players and coaches.
-The 1st place Atom Stallions easily won their semi-final game against the Lasalle Warriors on Sunday afternoon. The Stallions proved to be too strong right from the start winning the game by a score of 46-6. Exceptional play by QB Connor O’Connell with three touchdowns, and several completed passes to Justin Royer & Max Latendresse. The Atom Stallions will now face off against the St. Hubert rebels this weekend in the MRFL League Finals.
Now off to the Western Patriots who had an exceptional weekend of football.

A touchdown by Peewee Patriots’ Jayden Theodore (right) helped propel the team to a 20 – 0 win over the Lasalle Warriors November 6 wrapping up an exceptional weekend of football.
The 9-1 Peewee Patriots played host in their semi-final game to the Lasalle Warriors. The Patriots started off a little flat against a very pumped-up Lasalle team but when the game started rolling along, the Patriots came on strong winning by a score of 20-0. Touchdowns by Jayden Theodore and Darius Nicholson, and there was a very strong defence lead by Jesse Morris and Adamo Ciccotosto with an interception each. Head Coach Tony Harris said that at this point in the year it’s one game at a time. He is proud of his team for playing as one unit and coming together and staying confident. The Peewee team will be in the MRFL finals this weekend against the Châteauguay Raiders.
The 10-0 Mosquito Patriots kept their undefeated season going with a 36-14 win over the Lasalle Warriors. The defence kept the Pats in the game in the first half with hard hits and big defensive plays from linebacker Gab Karagioules and safety Oshea Maxwell. After falling behind 14-12 midway through the 3rd quarter, Patriots’ cornerback Matteo Tamborriello came up with an important interception to shift the momentum in the Pats’ favour. The Patriots’ offence finally found their rhythm with wide receiver Charles Godhue coming up with a big catch down the sidelines on a third and long situation keeping a drive alive, and allowing running-back Jayden Theodore to score one of his two rushing touchdowns of the day.
Zachery Raschella put an end to any hopes of a Warrior comeback with a 70-yard pick-six. The Pats now get ready for what should be another physical game when they host the Île Bizard Vikings, who will travel to Chêne-Bleu in Pincourt for the MRFL (Montreal Regional Football League) championship game.
The Atom Patriots were also in the league semi-finals and they blew away the Île Bizard Vikings by a score of 42-0. Three touchdowns by Malik Sabourin Danglade lead the way for the offense and strong play by the defensive line kept the Vikings off the score board.
So three out of four teams from the Western Patriots, and two out of five teams from the Stallions will be represented in the Montreal Regional Football league finals.
That is great representation from our off-island football associations in Quebec amateur football.
