Letter to the editor 4, Nov. 10, 2016

Dear Editor,

A few weeks ago I found out that two of our town councillors were paid extra funds to attend meetings as acting mayors. Way back councillors approved an increase in salary so that all members would not have to charge extra every time they attended functions. I believe it was $100 per session. They should not have been paid extra in excess of what they get. This is our hard-earned money. On top of that all councillors get approximately $10,000 tax free money while we peasants have to pay taxes. Every time I have an unexpected expense, I have to dip into my pension money. Guess what... I get zapped with 35 per cent income tax. Why should they be privileged?

While companies are cutting down on expenses with Christmas coming, how much will the city of St. Lazare spend on a Christmas party for their employees? We do not have funds in the kitty. Fire Hall, Au Galop, the new Town Hall…. Where does it stop?

Time for residents to say enough is enough.

Get out to monthly town meetings and voice your displeasure.

It's time people, wake up.
