Letter to the editor 3, June 23, 2016

Dear Editor,

Where are the posters for Saint-Jean-Baptist and Canada Day? This has been the event of the year for the St. Lazare citizens and neighbouring communities. Everywhere we look there are posters for au Galop but none for the most important celebration that has taken place in St. Lazare for over fifty years.

It sure seems that the town is trying to bamboozle our celebration and put all the $$$ into a very insignificant celebration. This is the brainchild of our free spending council who will have thrown away close to $2,200,000 in the last year on tourism without even doing a feasibility study.

They could afford a full page for au Galop but only a quarter page for Fête National à Saint-Lazare.

Mr. Mayor and Councillors, are you trying to squash the spirit of St. Lazare by making lite of our heritage celebrations?

Shame on you all for the freewheeling spending you are doing with no respect to the citizens and their heritage.

Elizabeth (Liz) Rozon
