Police are crediting a civilian for his help in the rescue of two capsized kayakers on Lac St-Louis off the shores of Notre Dame de l’Île Perrot. Sûreté du Québec spokesman Sgt. Bruno Beaulieu reports the two women, aged 20 and 21, headed out June 19 in the early afternoon before encountering difficulty on the water. A witness to the event contacted emergency services and a nearby officer responded to the call. With the help of a citizen, they used his motorboat to rescue the two who were reportedly unhurt. Police are reminding all boaters of the importance of wearing personal floatation devices at all times when on a boat.
