Two athletes from Dojo Perrot Shima participated in the recent Judo National Championships 2016 in Calgary, Alberta.

Roxanne Mallette participated in her first national tournament, and finished third in the senior women over 78 kilos.

Alex Marineau competed in both the U21, and the Seniors’ tournament.

On Saturday in the U21 he finished with a silver medal, which is a fantastic result. He then went on to compete in the Seniors of the Canadian Championships and with even more force, Alex took the gold medal in the under 73 kilos category.

With these victories, Alex is almost assured a spot in the Pan American Games.

This makes him the second to win the gold medal and be Canadian Champion after Ryan Proulx who was also Canadian Champion. (Who was unfortunately not able to participate in the Championship this year due to injury).

Richard Proulx of Dojo Perrot Shima is extremely proud of Alex who started his judo career with him at the age of five.
