Call for applications - Land Art Hudson

The Town of Hudson is pleased to announce a call for applications for its “Land Art Hudson 2016”. This competition is designed to recruit professional or emerging artists.
The selected artists will work in the heart of the Town of Hudson in the magnificent Jack Layton Park on the shores of the Ottawa River.
The Project: Land Art Hudson
5 artists, 5 weeks, 1 site - The selected artists will create their art work for a period of 4 days (Wednesday to Saturday) and will present their art piece to the public on the Sunday. Land Art is designed to develop an artistic journey in nature by presenting art work dispersed on a pre-defined pathway in Jack Layton Park.
The purpose of this project is to highlight the work and art of selected visual art artists.
Please note that an artist may be a team of 2 persons (must be specified in the call for applications), but the $ fee will then be divided in two.
Only professional or emerging artists in visual arts or multidisciplinary arts may participate to this call for applications (as defined by the Canada Council for the Arts).
An artistic approach and a special interest and practice in land art. The work is executed outdoor, rain or shine.
2016 is the 2nd edition of Land Art
Event date : From June 29th to July 31st, 2016. One artist per week for five weeks. Please indicate your availability for a one week residency (from Wednesday to Sunday inclusively)
The promoter: The Town of Hudson together with the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges are the event promoters. Event commissioner: Daniel Gautier.
Site : The event will take place in the beautiful Jack Layton Park located along the Ottawa River in a forest with a network of trails that lead to Sandy Beach.
Conditions – Creations in the Spirit of Land Art
Artists must create a work of art respecting the Land Art philosophy by using, as much as possible, natural materials from the nearby landscape: wood, stones, sand, water, plants, etc. However, 10 per cent material content from another source will be allowed.
Curriculum vitae and artistic process

A drawing or sketch of your project
Any other relevant documentation
Fee and other expenses Artists will receive $1 500 plus lodging and evening meals provided by our sponsors.
Application deadline Saturday, May 14t, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

The selected artists will be announced at the end of May.
The evaluation committee is composed of three (3) members (commissioner and peers). The files will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

The Town of Hudson reserves the right not to accept any candidatures and to suspend this contest at any time, at its sole discretion. In either of these eventualities, the Town of Hudson cannot be held responsible of any resulting losses, damages or prejudices. Please note the evaluation committee’s decisions are final.
Art work created as part of this project will become the property of the Town of Hudson. In submitting their files, the participants agree that their work will be reproduced and published by the Town of Hudson and their partners, fully or in part, on the web, reproduction by photo or via other media, within the strict framework of the project “Land Art Hudson” and of its promotion or archiving. The Town of Hudson agrees to always mention the artists’ name, as they appear on their application form or otherwise specified by them, in any form of transmission.
