Rigaud municipal councillor passes away
Rigaud Mayor Hans Gruenwald Jr., elected council members, and the employees of the Town of Rigaud are paying tribute to District 3 Municipal Councillor Michel Sauvé, who passed away March 26.
“It’s with great sadness that we announce the loss of one of our councillors. Our town has lost a great gentleman, an engaged citizen, and a visionary who was committed to the development of Rigaud,” said Gruenwald in a communiqué released by the town.
"In my name, that of my colleagues and municipal employees, and for the citizens of the City of Rigaud, I offer my deepest condolences to his wife Jeannine, his children Stephane and Yannick, as well as all the family and friends of Mr. Sauvé.”
His extensive knowledge of the environment, combined with his vast experience in the municipal sector and his desire to celebrate Rigaud Mountain outside its borders, allowed him to hold the post of municipal councillor from 1991 to 1999 and more recently from 2013 to 2016.
As a representative, but also as a businessman, Mr. Sauvé has been involved for over 25 years in various municipal projects. In addition to being Chairman of the Planning Advisory Committee, he actively contributed to the development of the L'escapade trails, the creation and development of Rigaud’s Festival des couleurs, as well as the illumination of the cross January 1, 2000.
