Fire destroys St. Lazare home

No one was injured in a Good Friday, March 25 late afternoon fire that gutted a two-storey home located at 2535 Vallée de la Loire in St. Lazare.
“We responded to a call for a house fire,” said Saint Lazare Fire Department Assistant Director Régent Marineau, “and by the time we got here, flames had reached the second floor.”
Firefighters attempting to enter the home found the flames too powerful and fought to extinguish the blaze from the outside.

Nobody was in the home at the time.
Approximately 30 firefighters were on the scene and backup arrived from Hudson and Les Cèdres.
“It was a stubborn fire,” said Hudson Fire Department Captain Shane Bonnemayers. “There wasn’t much floor left so we were on defensive procedures.”
The cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined.
