I have just received a hand-delivered – at great expense, no doubt (after 6 p.m.) – missive from the Town of Hudson. I must remove the stones I placed on the edges of my property (to stop garbage trucks, etc. from leaving 6-inch ruts in my grass) or be subject to fines ranging from $100 to $4000 depending on whether I am a ‘moral’ or a ‘physical’ person! Is somebody out there checking my sex life?
I am expected to keep the edge of my property adjoining the road mowed and tidy. This is impossible as when it rains, trucks leave deep ruts in the grass. Incidentally, our road that was (allegedly) paved three years ago when sewers were installed looks like Pine Lake on a wet day. Neighbours have complained for years about the second-rate paving job to no avail. Said rocks have been removed. As a pensioner – moral or not – I cannot afford $4000 in fines.
But rest assured, if my neighbours and I have any say in the next election (and we will) this mayor and council will be long gone. Incidentally, I do not live at 71 Parsons, but 71 Wilkinson. All the other neighbours have the wrong addresses on their notices too.
So much for the efficiency of Town Hall.
